The Splinter UIC Mod 2 is designed to be a well-balanced fighting rifle for tactical shooters who utilize weapon lights and laser aiming devices. The CORE Barrel profile was designed to address issues with weight distribution, balance, and handling of traditional profiles, while increasing performance through consistent harmonics and uniform heat dissipation. The 13.9" model features the Criterion CORE contour barrel. The 14.5" and 16" models feature the Criterion Hybrid contour barrel. This rifle is offered in our new Splinter Camo Cerakote pattern in various color choices. The Surefire Warcomp is pinned and welded to make the barrel length greater than 16.1" which makes this a rifle. Built on a billet aluminum, fully ambidextrous upper and lower receiver set, the UIC Mod 2 is the Flagship Carbine of the UIC line.
CORE vs Hybrid Profile Barrel Contour:
The CORE Barrel Profile is a continuous taper and is about 4 ounces lighter than the standard Hybrid Profile Barrels we offer. This barrel profile was designed to aid in balancing the rifle specifically when using lights, lasers and suppressors by keeping most of the weight on the chamber end of the barrel, at the mid-point of the rifle.
The CORE Barrel features a smaller gasport designed for suppressed use, it may not cycle correctly unsuppressed with underpowered bulk ammunition.
